Nick finds a perfect new home with Orbit, just like his mum did years ago

Nick had heard lots of good things about being an Orbit customer from his mother Mary, who had been an Orbit customer for 40 years, so when he decided to step onto the property ladder at Orbit Homes’ Homestead Park in Suffolk, he was filled with every confidence.

Nick and his wife Karen found themselves in the market to buy their own home for the very first time this year, having lived for 43 years in the home provided by Nick’s job until his retirement.

Whilst house hunting may have been unfamiliar to the couple, Orbit wasn’t.

Nick’s mum had been an Orbit customer for 40 years until she passed away, so he had first-hand experience of the ‘good things’ they could offer to those looking for a new home and he began to browse Orbit Homes’ developments.

“With my mum having been an Orbit resident for 40 years and having a good experience, it encouraged me to look into Orbit and see what they could offer. I came across Homestead Park on the Share to Buy website and really liked the open play layout of the homes. This really stood out to us as our previous home had a separate galley kitchen which wasn’t very sociable.”

The couple made use of the part-buy, part-rent Shared Ownership scheme to buy their first ever home and picked out a two-bedroom ‘Fieldfare’ design bungalow at Homestead Park.

All homes at Homestead Park benefit from Orbit Homes’ all-inclusive specification, which offers Air Source Heat Pumps, electric vehicle charging points, flooring throughout, turf and more as standard.

On their favourite features with their new home at Homestead Park, Nick added: “Our new home is energy efficient and we don’t have to worry because of the warranty offered by Orbit Homes and the great build quality. We love how the patio doors open out into the garden and it’s perfect for our dog Teddy. The specification of our home has really exceeded our expectations and my family can’t wait to visit again soon.”

Having worked most of his life on a nature reserve, it’s no surprise that Homestead Park’s design and location in the beautiful Suffolk countryside is a perfect match for Nick and Karen, and dog Teddy.

Homestead Park is designed with biodiversity in mind, with Orbit Homes providing a route for wildlife on the site through new and retained native hedgerow, wildflower planting and varied grasses with the development’s public open spaces.

The nearby Stonham Barns leisure and retail park, within walking distance from Homestead Park, is also home to the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary as well as the Barclays Sensory Garden, woodland walk and picnic areas.

Nick and Karen also thanked Orbit Homes for making the whole process run ‘as smooth as possible’.

“From my first exchange with Orbit Homes our questions have been heard and answered. The staff have made the entire process as smooth as possible, always being very professional, helpful and friendly.

“The site team have also been on hand to help from day one. Any issues we’ve had have been sorted out straight away and they even helped us with fitting our new washing machine.”

Nick is a massive fan of the area where the family have laid down their new roots, and its sense of community, adding: “Stonham Aspal is a friendly area and the public open spaces across the village are well maintained. We’ve really integrated into the community and are enjoying quiz nights at the Stonham Aspal village hall, playing bingo and some rounds of crazy golf!”

Located in the well-served village of Stonham Aspal, Homestead Park offers residents convenient road and rail links across the East and into London, as well as everyday essentials on your doorstep with a Post Office and the Stonham Barns leisure and retail park within walking distance.

A range of stylish two and three-bedroom houses and bungalows like Nick and Karen’s are available at Homestead Park, with prices starting from £325,000 and selected homes being ready to move into. For more information visit www.orbithomes.org.uk/homestead-park
